TRAGIC NEWS: SUSPECTED CULTS AXE DOWN 20YR OLD FINAL YEAR STUDENTS

It is not a suprise to note that cults still exists in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions, but, it is terrible to see the nature of the mayhem unleashed by this dreadful individuals in the most inhuman manner. The situation most connected to the decadence in morals of our students who out of dire need for protection against the unknown make deals with the devil oblivious of the fact that the price of renege is death. Most of them at this point begin to climax for any sort of elixir to salvage their life from the hands of the devil.

The Niger Delta University,Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa, Yesterday, discovered the body of a young student of the Institution lying in his own pool of blood after being butchered with an axe. The incident as reported has intensed fear in the University community especially recalling the fact that certain Individuals has gone missing and their whereabouts still unknown.

The situation is worsened by the fact that the Institution lacks hostel accommodation within the campus and as such, students, have to sought for shelter in and around the university town of Ammasoma.

Cultism as it is known as fast becoming a Relic in the University and if not properly and timely checked, might lead to the decadence of the once top rated institution in nigeria.

May the soul of the assailed, through the mercy, rest in peace. Amen

INSPIRATION UNLIMITED

We all as humans needs to be grateful to God for whatever we have even though we believe we deserve more for it is the traditional igbo proverb, which says, "ekele Onye na nke omere, Omekwa ozor" transcripted, if you are thankful to someone for that which he did, he would do more.

God has done a lot in our lives, even though we have refused to see it, we believe that its by our own strength, but I guarantee you, if not for his grace we would not be communicating today. In everything you have and no matter what you need. Gratitude comes first before solitude. Grace abounds that solace might be ours. I used to think, why should I not have just what I want, when I want it?

Then I remembered the popular quote, which reads, "I USED TO CRY THAT I HAD NO SHOES, THEN I SAW SOMEONE WHO HAD NO LEGS". That's really touching by its wordings and gives us a reasons to grace our God each and everyday for the great things he had done.

THIS WEEK ON UNIVERSITY IN FOCUS: IMO STATE UNIVERSITY, OWERRI.

The Imo State University, One of the Numerous State owned Institution in the Federation, was inaugurated in 1981 through law as passed by the Imo state House of Assembly.

Abia state at this time, was still a part of Imo state, and as a result, the Institution has its main campus, at Uturu, presently in Abia state.

At the time of inception, the Institution admitted its first/ pioneer students, of about 392 candidates on the 23rd of october, 1981. The students were admitted into the limited courses which had gained full acreditation from the Nigeria Universitiy Commission(NUC) at that time.

In 1991, the Uturu campus of the Institution was bridged out of the university following the creation of the New Abia State. This former campus went on to become a Whole New Institution, the Abia State University. So it would not be wrong to say that Imo state University is the mother of Abia state University and it probably is the only campus to become a full University in the Country.

The division from its main campus was a major setback for the institution as it made substantial efforts to create new faculties and departments and departments that was lost with the loss ou Uturu in the new Owerri campus, situated at the Centre of the state. Even till date, it has not fully settled in the capital, as the current governor of the state has promised the management of the Institution a new site, location still remains unknown.

Imo state University is currently a fully functional University, with most of its courses, accredited by the Nigerian University Cimmission(NUC).

In 2006/2007, the Institution got a 100% accreditation record after the NUC accreditation exercise with all its courses, gaining accreditation making the university popular among the Nigerian students. The same year, the Institution ranked 1st among Nigerian state Universities and 10th in overall ranking of both federal and state owned Institutions. Those were happy times for both students of the institution and the then state governor, Gov. Achike Udenwa.

The Institution began to experience difficult, 5 years after the Inception of the Imo State Teaching Hospital, in 2009,the tenure, of Gov. Ikedi Ohakim, the Teaching Hospital had Failed to Produce any reasonable services of average acceptable standard, making the Institution a bad destination for Medical practices. Reports made about the institution once among the top ten rated universities in the country disclosed that, the degrading state of their Facilities, laboratories and Infrastructure, the incessant strike and the endless admission scandals has threatened to kill the Institution.
Following the incident, the vice chancellor and the bursar were suspended in a bid to revive the Institution.

The fact that, their professor is the head of ASUU, makes me wonder what they do with their allocated funds and leave the institution to rot. We pray that they would regain their momentum and become a force to reckon once again.

It doesn't always matter how you start. Jus do not STOP!!!

Great individuals do not always start strong, they also have their own issues. What distinguishes them from those we call the ordinary is that they do not give in to fear, obstacles, ridicule or negatives. They look their obstacles in the face and made it clear that they have a destination and "EVEN IF GOD WAS TO STAND IN THEIR WAY, THEY WOULD SURMOUNT GOD, AND MAKE IT TO THE SUMMIT OF THEIR DREAMS." DA- SILVA
Below are some tragic tales of those we know and recognize as successful and great men, just to show you that there is always a pain behind every fame.

• "I was raped at d age of 9 "-Oprah;"(music artiste)

• I didn't even complete my University Education "-Bill Gates;"(microsoft owner/world richest man)

• In my childhood days,I stitched shoes
"-Abraham Lincoln,"(former american president)

• I ones Had no shoes President Goodluck jonathan"(Nigerian president)

• I struggled academically throughout elementary school "-Ben Carson;"(world greatest neuro-surgeon)

• I used 2 serve tea at a shop 2 support my football training "-Lionel Messi;"(world best footballer)

• I used 2 sleep on d floor in friend's rooms, returning Coke bottles for food money, getting weekly free meals at a local temple "-Steve Jobs"(apple owner)

• I used to play football with oranges at Enugu- Jay Jay Okocha. (Nigerian star footballer)

• My teachers used 2 call me a failure. "-Tony Blair"(british prime minister)

So you see, I could go on and on without stoping, just to show you that, they all started the same way we did, the difference is that they just would not stop or give in to difficulty. A favorite quote of mine says,
"you only become a failure when you could not succeed, not when you fail once. As long as you do not stop trying, the sky is your limit."- Da-silva

The BIG always start SMALL! U̶̲̥̅̊ will soon have your own story. It doesn't matter where you are as long as you can see your destination. It does not matter how fast you move as long as you do not stop. Always hold your dreams high. Your time of success and achievements is close at hand.
With God, your life can always be more! Good morning friends! Have blessed sunday & gr8 week!
Remember to always read your book.
